Hey everybody!
Sorry it’s been so long since the last blog post. LEEP has been very busy, but we’ll be posting updates, upcoming events, and fun tidbits up here a lot more often now, so make sure to check it out every few days!
LEEP had its first Naturalist class on August 21st. We had 8 people in the class, including some volunteers, our helpful instructor, Andy, and Ian as well. We have decided to hold these meetings as an ongoing class. It should be very helpful in enabling more of us to help out in the classrooms. If you are interested in participating in the Naturalist classes, please call us at 800-732-9625 for more details!
On Saturday August 25th, LEEP was asked to be a part of the Dubconscious show at Millenium Music on King Street and at The Pour House on James Island. The band generously shared their merchandise table with LEEP, and we were able to speak with a lot of people about our organization, make some friends, and enjoy the musical talents of the Dubconscious guys. Ian even made a guest appearance on stage with his saxophone! LEEP would like to thank Ian D. and the guys from Dubconscious for letting us be a part of their night!
On Monday August 27th, LEEP had their first class of the new school year at East Cooper Montessori Charter School. Ian and four other volunteer Naturalists went to the school for the entire day. The kids worked on various team-building skills, and of course, participated in the environmental classes. The LEEP BioBus was also there so that the students could learn first-hand about alternative fuels.
The next day, Tuesday August 28th, a fundraiser was held for LEEP by Shea Onofrey and WineDineWine. The event was held at Avondale Wine and Cheese from 6:30 - 8:00 pm. The event was a great success, and we met many new people. A big thanks to Shea and Avondale Wine and Cheese.
Well, that’s all for now. Have a great weekend, and don’t forget to keep checking for updates, events, and news!
