Leep is having a fun and successful fall.  We have been involved in many activities and are teaching many classes.  Our Executive Director, Ian Sanchez, and many volunteers attended the Green Fair on Sept. 28 in Marion Square Park.  Ian took short walks with kids.  He also spoke about connecting children and nature and showed clips of the WOW tour.  The LEEP table was covered with shells and animal bones, demonstrating our hands-on approach to learning.  Volunteers answered questions about the display from many curious passers-by.  LEEP also recruited some new volunteers and spread the word about the upcoming coupon book.  Our class at James Island School took a great trip to Magnolia Gardens recently.  The students navigated a maze, listened to speakers, and rode the tram.  The students also enjoyed a planetarium from Wannamaker Park.  The dome was a huge hit with the students, teaching them about stars and nature.  LEEP is now teaching successful classes at EA Burns, Mt. Zion, Porter Gaud and Pepperhill Elementary schools.  Teachers are responding enthusiastically to the classes. The LEEP biodiesel bus is also making many trips, keeping Richard the bus driver quite busy.  LEEP made our goal of meeting our matching grant of $15,000.00!! The grant is great news for our classes and organization.  LEEP’s volunteers are meeting once a month.  Our great volunteer group is growing! LEEP appreciates all our hard-working volunteers.
