On February 20th LEEP took about 30 students from the James Island Middle School on a fieldtrip to the South Carolina Aquarium. Students were assigned to work on a scavenger hunt throughout the aquarium in order to learn about the local waterways as well as wildlife. These students were able to get hands on look at much of the ocean life found in and around South Carolina’s coast through many of the aquarium’s exhibits. The executive director of LEEP, Ian Sanchez, was also able to demonstrate how much of the aquatic life lives in the aquarium through an interactive diving show.  This was a great opportunity for many of the students in Charleston to be able to get a feel for the community and environment in which they live.
