<description>Ian and my unplanned visit and tour of CDA with Cecilia was absolutely wonderful. Meeting the kids and Cecilia who were so imaginative, polite, and eager to have us back really inspired me and made me realize the importance of what we do here at LEEP!!

		<description>10.31.05

Today we kicked off the first class of the LEEP "Learning Circle" at the Charleston Developmental Academy, starting off with the "Water Cycle". Jennifer Godwin gave me a hand with a combined class of about 35-40 students. We started off with some water s that demonstrated the different characterstics of water and the significants of the wetlands. Then we went on a trip acting as water molecules picking up trash all the way to Brittlebank park. (See blog on website). There we discussed the effects of polution on the wetlands and the properties of the Estuary. The kids seemed to realy enjoy getting out of the classroom for a while and the teachers were very appreciative. It was a great expirience to begin to put our program to work. I believe that CDA will be a excellent school.

I know that we are all excited about working with MESSA and appreciate them agreeing to give us support with their race. Please mark your calendars for Feb 4th for the "Save the Lighthouse" marathon and February 25th for the 8k for H2O event. I am sending out thier sponsorship letter. I would like to get it into the hands of us as many sponsors as possible. Lets make sure we show our appreciation and support back to the organizations that have showed us kindness. It will be extremely important to reach out to the business community in the coming months and keep up good relations.

Sandra has announced the idea of cross promoting the Night of Giving at the Citadel Mall at the Food Lion's MVP card promotion. I recieved a letter from Food Lion requesting that we have at least 25 MVP members signed up before we apply to promote in front of their stores. I am sure we can manage that. The Night of Giving is only a couple of weeks away. Lets get out and do what is necesary to sell the tickets.

Remember to log on to the website regularly and use the discussion forums. This will be our important tool in order to plan upcoming events and get feedback. It will only be useful if we use it. If anyone does not know how to use the staff login please email me or Todd.

For now on, use LEEP in your subject line when emailing. This will help to identify and categorize your emails as well as help from mistaking it for spam.

I wish you all could have seen the kids today. I have always said that the investment in human beings is the best way to insure a bright future. This will realy be shown in the results of our work with these schools that often get neglected. Staying consistent in our beliefs and persistent in our common vision will allow us to do great things in the future.

Love to all,
IanS
